Bolotana

Village description

It lays on the slopes of the chain of Marghine, its shape reminding an amphitheatre. It's well known for the production of traditional carpets. Not far from the centre it stands the ancient church of San Bachisio, originally built in 13th century, but restored in 1524 by Michel Puig the "Mastru 'e Muru" (in Sardinian language literally "the master of walls"). The area of Badde 'e Salighes shows the nice villa Piercy, immersed in a wood of rare plants. There, the highest peak is the panoramic point of Punta Palai, at 1200 meters on the sea level, from which you can visually reach the gulf of Oristano to the West, and the mountains of Corse to the North.
