Village description
It raises at the end of the plain of Ottana, and in its steep old town there are still the ancient traditional granitic houses. Olzai is known overall for the church of Santa Barbara which preserves the célèbre "Retablo della peste" (the "altar-piece of the plague"), made by an anonymous artist known as "The Master of Olzai", author of another altar-piece now exposed in the art gallery of Cagliari. It's said that the work was painted to fulfill a vow during an epidemic. Out of the village there is the dolmen of S'Ena 'e Vacca.
