Accommodations

The Sardinna e Caddos farm accommodation, which will be active from next spring, is situated in the “Contones” locality and can be easily reached by following the SS 131 bis up to the junction with the Oniferi exit.
The farm accommodation has a large inner courtyard with a portico. The rooms all face the patio and have bathrooms, also with disabled facilities. The furnishings and architecture reproduce the characteristic atmosphere of the local culture.

Rural tourism and equestrian services

Sardinia horse ridingThe area offers many interesting ideas for those who love rural tourism: the old migration routes that can be followed on horseback, foot or mountain bike, the chance to be surrounded by active sheep farming and to become protagonists participating in caring for the animals and creating dairy products and being immersed in local culture and costumes. At the farm accommodation, you can also taste the flavours and dishes of genuinely typical Sardinian food created using organic products.

There are many interesting archaeological sites in the area, including the dolmen di Sculacacca and the eight Sos Settiles menhirs that date back to the prenuragic period, the Brodu domus de janas and the Sas Concas necropolis, close to the farm accommodation. Among the nuraghi, of which there are more than twenty, Maddorocca with its two towers, the well-maintained Ola nuraghe with its striking entry architrave, a large rectangular mass with rounded edges, and the Murtas nuraghe are all particularly significant. All these archaeological monuments can be visited with the help of a guide.

Do not miss out on the oak and live oak forest Sa Serra, Littos, monte Gonare and the various rock churches and sanctuaries (N.S. de Gonare, Madonna della Pace), which could be the destinations of natural or religious historic excursions to be done on horseback, by bike or in four-wheel drive vehicles for a daytrip duration.
Personalised excursions on horseback or in four-wheel drive vehicles lasting for a few days can also be organised to visit the most untouched places in Sardinia.

Finally, Sardinna e Caddos is the promoter of amateur horse competitions, gimkane and horse-riding lessons for non-experts.

Horse riding tours

Together with the Taloro equestrian centre, Sardinna e Caddos has been active in organising and promoting horse-riding holidays in the area for many years in order to discover the most hidden and unspoilt Sardinia. In particular, we point out the following for their particular success with the public:

  • Ballu Tundu a Caddu
Passing through the n° 9 Nuorese mountain community, with a circular tour between the Gennargentu and Supramonte, discovering local traditions that are immersed in nature and the hospitality of the Barbagia people. A journey with a series of stops in sites of historical and archaeological interest, offering unique food and wine associated with Barbaricina hospitality and linking the whole of Barbagia in a single horse trail, which is still not a well known place in terms of mass tourism.
  • Mares e Montes
Covers three or four days on horseback from the sea to the mountains. Starting from the sea and the relaxing Sardinian beaches, we come to the striking mountain scenery of inner Sardinia.
  • A caddu a sa fiera
A 2-day horse excursion, which follows the old trails that connected the municipal countryside, wading through water and taking you through breathtaking scenery and admiring magnificent and striking nuraghi and old country churches. We leave from the Sanctuary of Santu Antine a Sedilo, ride along Lake Omodeo and through the villages of Norbello, Abbasanta and Villanova Truschedu. We visit the famous San Marco fair.
  • Barigadu a caddu
A 2-day excursion that leaves from the Sanctuary of Santu Antine di Sedilo and passes through the area’s striking countryside before arriving in Austis. You can visit the sanctuary, which was built in 1789, and is one of the most famous sanctuaries dedicated to the Constantine Emperor in Sardinia. The church has a facade with a characteristic undulating line crest elevation. During the journey you can visit the domus de janas de Sas Percas and faunistic oasis in the landscape of Bidoni and Sorradile, where you can admire deers, fallow deers and wild boars.
