The Equiturs equestrian centre operates in the Orgosolo area in the equestrian and tourist services sector. In particular, Equiturs is an environmental tourism centre that offers a well-equipped complex in the Monte Nieddu-Locoe locality, in the Orgosolo (Nuoro) campagna. Riding school and clubhouse are spread out in an area covering six hectares.
Founded by three young people who share a passion for horses, the centre offers selected horse excursions, four-wheel drives in the striking scenery of Supramonte and Gennargentu and horse riding lessons. It also offers catering services based on the tasting of local, genuine products of the members’ farm.
In order to respect the area in which it operates, the Centre especially promotes horse trails that combine the sporting and recreational aspect of riding with the discovery of nature and the abundant world of sheep farming.
The Centre is situated in a natural basin that is bordered to the north by the Ortobene, the Nuoresi mountains, to the east by the white chalk mountains of Oliena, to the south by the Locoe-Orgosolo valley and to the west by the hills that head towards Mamoiada.
Situated on the low hill, the company is surrounded by areas which are intensely cultivated with vines (on the borderline of the Cannonau DOC area), where natural pastures and Mediterranean scrub land alternate. Characterised by a mild climate, even during the winter, it is an ideal place for a short stay and as a base for riveting excursions in Supramonte and Gennargentu.
Equiturs is a modern structure with a stable, ring, barn, clubhouse with bar and restaurant, showers and changing rooms, which also has disabled services for visitors. The associates or close associates are directly involved in supplying the services. The Anglo-Arab-Sardinian horses or specimens of the versatile local race are used for sports activities in an attempt to recover the ancient familiarity of this land with this noble animal.
